Winter Wedding Colour Inspiration

Updated: Jan 14, 2021

With Winter well and truly underway and Christmas now behind us, we thought it was a good time to publish part two of our seasonal wedding colour inspiration blog - Winter.

Winter is such a magical time of year, the wonderfully frosty mornings, ice glistening among the trees and the snow creating a wonderfully dramatic scene. It's once again easy to be influenced by the great outdoors. From snowy white to frosty silver, icey blues and berry red, are all perfect for a winter wedding colour scheme.

Gold and Glitz

Gold is a fabulous choice for a winter wedding. It adds warmth and glamour and oozes class. Mix with cream and add varying tones of gold for a simply delicate colour palette. Team your cream/ivory wedding dress with the bridesmaids and mens' cravats in gold and you have a beautifully chic look. A rich emerald green can be the finishing touch for this scheme, this can be added as little or as much as you like. Adding foliage into your bouquets can simply be enough with the room decor kept to cream and gold. Although this deep luxurious colour can be more of the centre piece with the bridesmaids wearing this colour. Adding garlands and table runners in a range of wonderfully rich foliage can bring this colour scheme together just perfectly. Add gold glitter to your wedding cake, gold sparkle to your decor and gold diamantes to your bouquets for some extra glitz.

Icey Blue

This colour scheme is so fitting for a winter wedding. With a palette of pale blues and grey tones it's a delicate yet striking effect when it all comes together. Mixing the blues with silver gives it the winter feel you are after. This colour looks just perfect on a fairy like flowing bridemaid dress, team this with the mens' cravats or bow ties in the same colour and you have the start of a great colour scheme. This same blue can be used for your chair decoration with table decorations being a mix of blue and silver. Blue hydrangeas can be the base of your bouquet teamed with icey blues and silver sprayed foliage. A beautifully iced white cake decorated with silver foliage, silver acorns and blue florals will look simply stunning.

Very Berry

Red isn't just for a Christmas wedding it works well throughout the winter season. The berries on the trees and the breast of the robin is the inspiration for this wonderful berry red palette. Team with darker shades of red for more depth and interest, along with a wonderful sage green and silver to soften the overall look. Red is a strong colour so you may want to use it in moderation, so for example if the chair decor uses this colour you may want your bridesmaids to be in silver accented with a berry sash or head piece for example and the mens' bow ties or cravats in the same colour. If the table decor incorporates a fabulous red floral arrangement, keep the chair sashes to silver or cream, they can always be accented with red flowers and foliage.

Frosty Morning

Silver, silver and more silver is the premise of this look. Silver teamed with white is fresh and perfectly classic. The bridesmaids will look stunning dressed in a silvery grey along with the groomsmen. Adding bling to this look definitely adds some welcomed drama. From Diamante votives and candelabras to diamante detailing on the bridesmaid sashes, or why not try a sparkly head piece along with sparkly shoes? The possibilities are endless, it really depends how much bling you like!
